"Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Carbon Peak Carbon Neutral Science and Technology Innovation Action Plan" passed expert demonstration

The preparation of the "Plan" was undertaken by the Science and Technology Department of the Autonomous Region, led by the team of Academician Huang Zhen of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and completed with the cooperation of the relevant scientific research teams of the Inner Mongolia Department of Ecology and Environment. The preparation of the "Plan" is oriented to serve national strategies and local needs, and proposes the main goals, key tasks, technology choices, development paths and safeguard measures for the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region's carbon peak and carbon neutral scientific and technological innovation actions, fully incorporating the positive characteristics of Inner Mongolia into Integrate into the national green and low-carbon technology innovation system, promote Inner Mongolia's "dual carbon" work, and achieve the goal of green and high-quality economic development.

Sun Junqing, Director of the Autonomous Region Science and Technology Department, attended the demonstration meeting and expressed his affirmation of the progress of the preparation of the "Plan". He pointed out that the party committee and government of the autonomous region attaches great importance to the work of reaching carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and has conducted special research and deployment on the preparation of action plans for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. Achieving the carbon peak and carbon neutrality goal is a major political responsibility for Inner Mongolia to implement national strategies. It is an inevitable requirement for Inner Mongolia's industrial transformation and upgrading and high-quality economic development.

Sun Junqing emphasized that technological innovation is the key to achieving the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality. It is necessary to make good use of the key variables of scientific and technological innovation, seize the opportunity of carbon neutrality at the peak of carbon emissions, and provide strategic support for Inner Mongolia to take a high-quality new path oriented towards ecological priority and green development. He requested that the "Plan" preparation team should fully absorb the opinions and suggestions put forward by the expert group and further improve the "Plan". At the demonstration meeting, experts from China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), Zhejiang University, Shanghai Institutes for Advanced Study, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Inner Mongolia University of Technology, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, and Inner Mongolia Yitai Group Co., Ltd. Academicians and experts conducted full consultation and demonstration around the main goals, key tasks, and important measures of the Plan.
